When you see Liquid Prodigy perform you realize his talent goes far beyond simply spinning poi and dancing. The kind of charisma and effort he puts into his performances always leaves his audiences simply enchanted. His vivacious moves and soulful art is unparalleled in the dance community. His professionalism, on and off the dance floor puts him on a pedestal way above other stage dancers.

Born in Foley, Alabama, Mel Gipson, also known as Liquid Prodigy, moved to Tampa, Florida in 2000. He started hanging out in high energy clubs in the Bay area almost immediately. When he saw some of the talented dancers and stage shows he fell in love. It was through this integument that he decided to start learning how to perform. He knew when he started learning poi and liquid dancing that he saw a future in stage performances.

Mel had the idea of giving himself an edge in the dance community by adding the element of electricity to poi and liquid dancing. You see Mel has a strong background in electrical engineering. His love for dancing and poi was only solidified when he lit his poi on fire. Now he dances with a wide variety of poi and lights making a very diverse and interesting stage show to fit anyone’s particular performance constraints.

Since Mel started learning to perform, he has never looked back. He practices on a daily basis to make sure his talent is never surpassed and through the support of friends and family he has opted to take these arts to a different level by jointly forming Fierce Progression with another very talented dancer, Max Rathbone.
